Having put myself through several years of attending "Tole / Decorative"
painting lessons as the sole male in the class I know how unusual it is to find
a man doing Tole Painting. Fortunately for me, my fellow students ( all ladies)
were very good about it and encouraged me to continue. Curiously, none of them
dragged their husbands out for a share of the fun. I am now able to look back
with a feeling of accomplishment and appreciation . I notice however, that when
admiring my work, people are still inclined to think that my wife was most
likely the artist. The work here, with all its faults and flaws, is mine and I
heartily recommend combining woodworking and tole painting to anyone who seeks a
feeling of accomplishment in their retirement.
